Mary Mitchell

MITCHELL, Mrs. Mary Louise Wood, 95, of New Market, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Life Care Center of New Market. Mrs. Mitchell was born August 17, 1914 in Amherst County, and was a daughter of the late Harry and Julia Bowles Wood. She had previously resided in Richmond before moving to New Market. Mary was a member of the New Market Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mrs. Mitchell was predeceased by her husband, Maurice C. Mitchell; and a daughter, Pamela A. Mitchell. She is survived by three children, Denny B. Mitchell of Silver Spring, Md., Shirley D. Stebbins of New Market and Diane M. Williams, also of New Market; a sister, Estelle Cheatham of Amherst County; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Theis Funeral Home in New Market, with a funeral service following at 4 p.m. A committal service will be held on Monday at Westhampton Memorial Park in Richmond at 1 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Theis Funeral Home, 9377 Congress St., New Market, Va. 540-740-3312.
