Richard Mitchell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Wilton Mortuary on Dec. 17, 2025.
Richard "Mitch" H. Mitchell, 84, of Peoria, IL, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mitch was born in Peoria, IL, on August 08, 1941, to Richard and Helen (Bradley) Mitchell. He married Pegi (Castro) Mitchell on October 17, 1987, in Concord, CA. He later married Nancy Kimble in Peoria, IL, on December 25, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pegi (Castro) Mitchell, who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and her unconditional love, his four daughters, and one son who have blessed him with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being "Gramps" was perhaps his greatest accomplishment in life.
Mitch graduated from East Peoria High School and went on to obtain an associate degree in applied science.
He was a career salesman, most recently owning and operating M&M Recycling until his retirement in July of 2025.
Mitch had an infectious laugh that could fill any room. He was welcoming to all and enjoyed being integrated into his community. When he wasn't working or spending time with family, he made significant contributions to his community through service as Chairman of the East Bluff TIF District Board, serving as Commander of AMVETS Post #64, and acting as President of the East Bluff Neighborhood Association.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
