Mr. David Gaston Sr.

Reverend David Gaston, Sr., age 79, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 6:50 pm on Monday, January 19, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

David was born on August 1, 1946 in Hayti, MO to SD Gaston and Annie Mae (Lawson) Gaston. He married Velma Jean Sanders, on April 16, 1964 and was married 47 years when she passed on October 31, 2011. To that union five children were born. He later remarried Coless Rene' Williams on October 16, 2012 for 12 years until her passing on October 30, 2024.

David worked at Peoria Disposal Company as an Environmental Manager for 25 years, retiring in 2010. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School in Memphis, TN. David was a member of Calvary Full Gospel Church where he served as a minister. He later attended Zion Baptist Church. He was the lead singer with the gospel group, Majestic Sons of Zion (formerly Twilight Spiritual Singers).

David leaves to cherish his most precious memory one son, David (Kimberly) Gaston, Jr. of Cape Coral, FL; four daughters, Candace (Vincent) Neal, Angela (Anthony Richmond) Gaston and Dina Gaston all of Peoria, IL and Sherrae Gaston of Springfield, IL; two sisters, Margie Abstone and Ida Townsend both of Indianapolis, IN and 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents; both of his wives; three brothers, Scotty Gaston, Charles Gaston, and John F. Maddrie, and one great granddaughter, Queen Gaston.

In lieu of services, the family will meet in Cape Coral, Florida to have a celebration of life.
