Rachel McMULLIN Obituary

McMULLIN, Rachel Francis, 92, of Midlothian, Va., formerly of Bluefield, W.Va., passed away October 29, 2009. She was one of five children born to Charles and Minnie Francis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dan Phelps McMullin. Rachel graduated from Beaver High School. She attended Bluefield College and West Virginia University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Rachel was a member of Bland Street United Methodist Church, where she served as president of the United Methodist Women and chairman of the Worship Committee. She also originated and served as chairman of the "Care" committee. She was chairman of the Women's Division of the United Way and served as a board member of the Y.M.C.A. She was active in the Salvation Army Auxiliary and was a member of the East River Garden Club for many years. She is survived by her daughters, Marcia Cantrell and her husband, Bill, Sue Barrie and her husband, John, all of Midlothian, Va.; her grandchildren, Taylor Cantrell, Beth Wilkerson and Laura Mason; and her great-grandsons, Mac and Charlie Wilkerson. A memorial service will be held on November 21 in Bluefield. Memorials may be sent to the Dan and Rachel McMullin Helping Hand Fund, United Methodist Foundation of WV, P.O. Box 3811, Charleston, W.Va. 25338.
