Russell STINNETT Obituary

STINNETT, Russell Coleman, 90, of Buckingham, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond. He was born May 23, 1919 in Monroe, Va. of the late Russell A. and Ida C. Stinnett. He served in the U.S. Army for nine years. During World War II, he was in five major battles, including the Battle of the Bulge. He was later employed by AMF in Richmond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers, and nieces and nephews. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Sarah Stinnett of Buckingham; a daughter, Georgianne Stinnett of Richmond; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Dunkum Funeral Home in Dillwyn on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at Antioch Union Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday, with burial in the Wright Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Antioch Union Baptist Church, 2810 Greenway Road, Wingina, Va. 24599, or the Buckingham County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 444, Dillwyn, Va. 23936.
