I worked for Walt over 30 years ago, but I'll never forget the way he said my name. The way he'd sigh 'Mike' as if he was truly about to inform me of restaurant news of great import.
Even today when I try to recall similar managers from my past, his face pops up first in my mind.
Saw him at the Broad St. Friendly's in the late 90s maybe and he'd lost weight and teeth and I knew the end might be near. I shook his hand as if it was.

Fakhir and Ayesha, I did not know your father but I indeed know you to be 2 wonderful young people that I have been blessed in my life to know. Knowing how you are leaves me with no question of the kind of man your father is. I keep you in prayer and I know everthing will be alright.

To The Osborne Family,
When I heard of Mr. Osborne's passing, my heart was deeply saddened. I've had the pleasure of knowing him through Beulah Athletic Association where he was indeed one of Beulah's biggest fans and was Jamal's biggest cheerleader. May God comfort you during this difficult time and please know that your "Beulah" family is always here for you and will continue to keep you in our prayers.

To Osborne family: I had the opportunity to work with Walter as he visited the Friendly's store on West Broad Street often. He was always full of laughter and happiness. He will be missed, I will keep all of your family in my thoughts and prayers. May all of you remain strong and keep the good memories alive. He was truly a unique person and wil be remembered by all of those who had the pleasure and opportunity to spend time with him wether at work or outside of it.

We are so sorry for the lost of your husband! My husband worked with Walter and I have heard nothing but wonderful things from so many others. Our prayer is that God's strength will guide you through this journey and that God's peace will prevail. The day which we fear as our last is but the birthday of eternity. May you find comfort in the promises of our LORD (John 11:25) "I am the resurrection and the life" He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; Blessings and Peace be upon you and the entire family!

To My Other Family: Words can not express how sorry I am about the loss of Mr. Walt. He and I developed a very special bond that will forever be cherished. He had a way of making any situation funny and that is how he will always be remembered in my heart. Just remember that will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you and things will be alright.
