MARTIN, William Earl "Papa", 85, of Mechanics-ville went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 10, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy V. Martin; a daughter, Barbara A. Tate; a granddaughter, Jean Melton Greenwood; two great-grandchildren, Tommy Greenwood and Amanda Greenwood; three great-great-grandchildren, Nicholas R. Waddell, Thomas Nelson Greenwood and Jemma F. Waddell. He was retired from The Coca Cola bottling plant. He loved the outdoors and adored being with his great- great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, April 13, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, Mechanicsville, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Gethsemene Church of Christ Cemetery.

To, Jean, Dot, Barbara, Tommy and Amanda, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have loved Earl since I met him when I was a litte girl. He was like a second Dad to me for many years. He always smiled,had humor, worked hard everyday at Coca Cola and in his vegetable garden, he loved so much.Earl loved his family and grandkids so much. Thank You, Earl for always being welcoming and good to me. God Bless you and your family always.
