It's been 2 years, but I will ALWAYS miss you, and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. I'm grateful for all of the good times- the laughter, the crazy hairstyles, the kids, the good food, the stuff we got into as kids, and the struggles we've shared. But mostly, I'm thankful that God thought enough of me to allow me to share in your wonderful life. Sometimes, i still feel your spirit and hear your voice, and if im lucky enough, you visit in my dreams. Knowing and loving you for 31 years was just not enough. Good thing we still have forever... I just miss you SO much Zakia. Until we meet again my friend, Love BOK.

To the whole family...
It is with a heavy heart that I type this. Zakia played such a role in the the lives of our crew from Hempstead, NY. She always brought fun and joy to all of us. I have so many memories with her growing up. As we got older, she would let the crew stay with her in her apartment ; no questions asked. She would share anything she had. I can literally visualize her face and things we talked and laughed about right now. One day we all have to get togther again and celebrate her life...

I am upset to have found out by scanning a mutual friend's page on Facebook. I had the opportunity to spend time with Zakia and family on several occasions and was welcomed with opened arms and hearts. God has called one of his true angels home. My prayers are with her children and the rest of her family. May His love and mercy keep and sustain you through this difficult time. Much Love, Thena

To the Hunter Family, May God continue to bless you in your time of sorrow. Zakia and her entire family were friends and neighbors for many years. I felt such a deep sense of sorrow and sadness when I heard about your passing, because I just saw you a week earlier and we spoke and hugged and now you are gone. I don't know why God would call you home so early, but I do know he has a plan and you were part of it. Smile and watch over me until I see you again

Zakia, when I think of you I remember being in "The Art of Hair" with my mom saying "Wow, I want her to do my hair". Through hairstyling and you always giving me that special "Z-Love" creation, that of course no one else could do, you not only became my friend, however someone I could talk to over the years.
I remember moving away to Pittsburgh.... and then coming back. We sat and laughed for hours about that entire situation, all the while, I was saying to you "Um, can you please do my hair". What fun times we had Zakia!! You will be greatly missed and I do mean GREATLY, however knowing you are no longer suffering, and with the angels above gives me comfort. We love you.

To the Hunter family, My prayers are with you and Zakia's children. I met Zakia almost three years ago and she was a beautiful woman in every way. I spoke with her the end of August all excited about her move and as always she greeted me with a hug and the same big smile. She will be greatly missed by many. Just keep in mind that God also wants the best and he truly has a new angel above. Keep her in your hearts and she will live on within your memories. May God continue to bless your family. I will truly miss Zakia's bright smile. I just was talking with her at Selina's funeral and she was showing me pictures of her babies. No longer babies. Please know that she is soooooo proud of all of her kids and the look in her eyes when she talked about you was purely true love. Continue to work hard and prove to her that you will become successful in all that you do. Make your Mom proud. My deepest condolences to all of Zakia's family on your loss. Please believe me when I say she is now resting and not suffering any more. I have gotten signs from Selina and now truly believe that once you close your eyes for eternal rest, you are definitely at peace. Words cannot express the pain you must feel at this time but time does heal and we can heal together.
Sincerely,

To the Hunter Family,
My deepest condolences on the loss of Zakia. She was a beautiful woman and mother, with extreme talent. She may be gone in the physical sense, but her spirit, the memories of her smile, and her impact on people will last always. I remember tripping with Zakia during training at HCA. That's when I found out how truly cool of a person she was. I remember the talks of her children the most. A truly devoted mother. You will be greatly missed.

I love you Zakia,
We've had a great run these past 30 years and I have loved every minute of it. Your heart was as big as your smile, and I'm going to miss being on the receiving end of both. I remember how I would light up when I saw your mom's station wagon (lol) parked outside of Joy and Robin's house - because that meant you were here (in RIC), and when you moved here in 8th grade, well, that was just the bee's knees... Somehow, you never stopped lighting up my life and any time I saw you it was like being 5 yrs. old again. There aren't words for how much I will miss you, I just know I'll never stop. Rest well my friend.... until we meet again!
Love ALWAYS, BOK!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Zakia, I just saw you at the burial sight at my sisters funeral. Than to get a phone call 3 days later that you have joined her has really taken a toll on me. I will so miss you. I remember the days working with you and "The Art of Hair" and even before then at your house for HOURS getting the latest up do's and the hair shows. WOW just those memories (all good) would keep me at peace. I know you and Selina are up there looking down on us. Please take care of each other and watch over us here. Till we meet again I love you!
To the family, know that God took home a angel. Her and Selina are together enjoying eternity. We will miss them soo much but they no longer are suffering and are watching over us in a better place. I love you guys and please take care of each other.
