Joseph Zier Obituary
Joe was retired from UGI Electric and also the Pa. Game Commission. He was an avid sportsman. He loved spending time in the woods with his friends, his granddaughter or even just by himself. He also had a love for antiquing. His most precious and favorite love was his granddaughter, Sommer Mary. They were the best of friends and did everything together.
He was an excellent caregiver to her and was so proud to be her “Poppy.” They were truly best friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ann Zier Swirat, and also his parents and grandparents.
Surviving are his daughter, Karen Zier-Norris, her husband, Bill; and their daughter, Sommer Mary, all of Dallas; three sisters, Irene Samuels of Larksville, Theresa Kolesar of Swoyersville, Maryann Gugliotti of Luzerne; and several nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by his pet beagle, Bummer.
A short memorial service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Lehman United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the PA Diabetes Association.

Dear Karen & family,
Your mom & dad were both great people which I'm sure you already knew. I still remember when they got married, moved into the neighborhood, and I believe a year later found out they were having you. They were so excited. They were both always so proud of their daughter. Whenever we needed help with a missing dog or whatever your dad & mom would drop whatever they were doing to help. If I remember correctly your mom even took pieces of what was her wedding dress to make your Christening outfit.I have nothing but good memories of them both. But, now your dad has joined your mom in Heaven which is good because they loved each other so much.

Dear Karen, Sommer Mary and Bummer, Both Joe and Mary Ann touch us 30 plus years ago. Joe worked at Surface with Tom and Mary Ann was my right hand gal when I had my young family. I'm glad I got to know Joe when I first transferred and moved to NE PA. I always enjoyed talking to him. He was a gentleman and he was a real asset to the Game Commission. He will be missed by many and he will never be forgotten.

Dearest Zier & Norris Family:
Knowing Joe for many, many years was a great pleasure and also an honor to work along side of him as fellow DWCO's!
Please know that he will be sadly missed and our hearts go out to you all,(especially his "side-kick" Sommer).
