Jane Hackling Obituary

December 10, 2010

Jane Hackling, 85, of Kunkle, Dallas, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010, at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Palmer and Arline Richards Updyke. She was a graduate of Dallas Township High School. Before retiring, she was a secretary for the Dallas School District. She was a member of the Kunkle United Methodist Church. Jane was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Dallas, Order of the Eastern Star, Dallas, and the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband George; sons, Roger and George; and a brother Kyler Updyke. Surviving are son, Carl W. and wife, Deborah, Lancaster, Pa.; daughters, Bonnie Shingleton and husband, Michael, Dover, N.H.; Peggie Hackling, home, and Dodie Regnoski and husband, John, Dallas; sisters, Julie Scott, Kunkle, Josephine Buntin, Philadelphia; as well as six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and two step-grandsons. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with the Rev. Linda Bryan officiating. Interment will be Orcutt's Grove Cemetery, Noxen. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Kunkle Fire Co. or Kunkle United Methodist Church.
