Of all the teachers i ever had Mr. Thomas was not only my favorite, he was the one I respected most. He was my high school history teacher in 1976 at Coughlin. I still remember when I first met him. He was just some gray haired old guy teaching the industrial revolution while wearing one of his many bow ties. All I wanted to do was to get out of that class. But when you sat and listen to him you realized he taught the subject with a clarity and passion that is rare. I didn't just pass the class I did well and that wasn't me being a good student that was Mr Thomas being a good teacher. He didn't stop at teaching history. He embodied fairness, love of country, doing the right thing and respect for others. He was more than a good teacher he was a good person too. I hope everyone gets a chance at one point in their life to have a teacher like Mr Thomas. He will be remembered and I guess highest compliment a teacher can receive. RIP
