I will never forget Erica. She walked me through some of the hardest years of my life. Erica went above and beyond what I could have ever expected. My words just can't express how much I admire her, look up to her, she is a role model for all women. Erica became more than just a lawyer to me she became a friend opened up her home for me to visit and to join in with one of her children's birthday parties. She introduced me to her family and her friends, I was thinking who does this? Erica Riebel did this. I love you.

I just received my Hotelie magazine in the mail and was stunned to learn of the passing of my Cornell classmate. I remember Erica as particularly proud of her home town,so I was very happy to hear that she eventually settled back in the Ballston Spa area and became such a great contributor to her community. I wish I had let Erica know how thrilled I was to see her campaign signs throughout Clifton Park, during a chance exit I took off I-87 a few years back. I also hope Jeff Cheng kept in touch with Erica, as they were such good friends. My sincere condolences for your loss.

Erika and I met for the first time in May in Mechanicville. I liked her immediately because she truly cared about others--especially children. As a former teacher, we talked at length about working with children and the trials and tribulations they have in this world. May she rest in peace, and may God give all of you the strength to bear this loss. Sincerely, Mary Lou Anatriello

I am horribly saddened at hearing this news. Although I hadn't kept in regular touch with Erika for many years, I have always considered her one of the finest individuals I have even known. Her easy going charm and kind heart were unforgettable. I offer my deepest condolences to the Riebel and Trauring families. Erika, may God rest your wonderful soul.

What a shock to be visiting my family in upstate NY and to open the newspaper to learn that my beautiful classmate at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration has died so suddenly. I am so sorry for your sudden loss. The Cornell alumni community will truly miss Erika's contributions. It seems like yesterday when Erika and I were enjoying exotic asian cuisine with our friends Jeff Cheng and Rio Kondo in Ithaca, NY. With sincere condolences,

My deepest sympathies to Jim and children. Erika was a beautiful person inside and out. I ran into Erika and her family at the Olive Garden in Glens Falls. There she introduced her family including her mother and father. We spoke of how my children were adults and she said it wouldn't be long before her children would br grown and we both felt like we were getting old. She certainly was extremely proud of her entire family. Erika and I went to school together in 1981 and she was even then a very caring and compassionate person, always finding time to stop and talk to you. I am so sorry that she didn't fulfill her dream of becoming a family court judge, she would have made a huge diffence in peoples lives. God bless her and her family in the tough days ahead. Rest in peace Erika.

My deepest sympathies to the Riebel and Trauring families on their loss of a wonderful and great person. I ran into Erika and her entire family at the Olive Garden in Glens Falls not to long ago. Erika and I went to school together and graduated in 1981. Even all these years later she still remembered me and greeted my family with her great smile. She was so proud to introduce her husband and children and her parents to me. She couldn"t believe I had grown children and said it would't belong before her children would would be that old and then she would feel old. It was great talking to her after all these years, but it didn't seem like it because she was, as then, a very nice person who made you feel welcome. I am sad for all the children she won't be able to help. Erika God has a special angel in heaven and i know will be looking down with that smile to comfort her own family and all those she touched in her law practice, miss shen and soccer. Rest in peace Erika and God bless your family.

Erika will be truly missed. I was so happy to be back in touch with her through Cornell and the alumni magazine, and to hear of her personal and professional triumphs, to see her at reunion in 2005 with her beautiful family, and just to know the strength and courage she had, inspired me. Erika certainly made a difference in this world. My heart goes out to her family, I will keep you all in my prayers. Joyce Cornett (Atlanta, Ga)

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences and prayer are with the Riebel family and friends. I know heaven is a much more wonderful place having been graced with her arrival. Also, thank you Mr & Mrs Rieble for gracing us and sharing with us such a wonderful, kind and caring indiviual. The class of 1981 was definiatly blessed to have her. I went through all phases of school with Erika, but was one step luckier, we shared the same birthday, Aug 5th. We had many wonderful times filled with excitment and anticipation of that day, especially 13th and 16th. Even thought we did'nt see each othe every year after that I know we thought about each other on that day.I will dedicate this Aug 5th to the wonderful memories we shared, as well as prayer for her family. Thank you again Mr & Mrs. Rieble for bringing her to us all and for the angel we now have watching over us.

July 30, 2010

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Erika was always a breath of sunshine and life, always an inspiration to all around her. The shock of her passing makes it all the more difficult to find the words to express the depth of our sorrow.

Her radiant voice bought so much inspiration to those at Shenendehowa Methodist and I consider a great privilige to have made a joyful noise with her.

I don't live in Saratoga County but Erika was a child advocate in my bitter divorce case. I assumed because she was a woman she would side with my ex-wife and I would lose rights to have contact with my child. She was however fair and impartial and remained true to her charge, which was to act in the best interest of my child. Over the years that she was involved in my case, she was truly a class act. Her loss is one shared by everyone who cares about honesty, integrity and justice. My deepest sympathy.
