Ann Van Buren Obituary

Van Buren, Ann H. KINDERHOOK Ann H. Van Buren, 78, of Gaffney Lane, Kinderhook, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, N.Y. Born in Utica, N.Y., December 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Helen (Regetz) Hansmann. Mrs. Van Buren was a graduate of St. Lawrence University and earned her master's degree at SUNY Albany. She was a teacher and head of the English department at Ichabod Crane Central School as well as the cheerleading advisor there. She also taught English at Chatham Central School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an educational honor society and active member of the Kinderhook Reformed Church, serving in a variety of capacities, most recently as a member of the consistory. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, E. Gordon Van Buren of Kinderhook; her son Mark Van Buren (Jocelyn) of Burlington, Conn.; and her cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Erika and Edward. She was also survived by several cousins. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at the Kinderhook Reformed Church, Rt. 9, Kinderhook with the service conducted by Rev. Rudy Visser. Interment will follow in Kinderhook Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home Inc., Rt. 9, Valatie. For those who wish, contributions may be made to Kinderhook Reformed Church, 21 Broad St., Kinderhook, NY 12106.
