Gradson Johnson Obituary

JOHNSON Mr. Gradson Andrew Johnson, age 83, passed away peacefully May 20, 2008 in a local hospital. A Jacksonville, FL native, he received his early education in local public schools. Furthering his education, he attended Tuskegee Institute. Formerly he was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church, and more recently Universal Triumph- The Church of God & Kingdom of Christ. Mr. Johnson served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was employed by the U. S. Postal Service, and later as a Production Dispatcher at NAS JAX from where he retired after over 30 years of dedicated service. He was predeceased by his parents and leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife of 55 years, Mrs. Beatrice Johnson; sons, Reginald Johnson, I. (Alfreda), Kevin Johnson (Denise) and Shawn Johnson (Mia); daughters, Mses. Esterlita Rose, Alicyn Brooks (Stanley), and Sharon Martin; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Mses. Vivian Moore and Almetya Lodi; brothers-in-law, Willie Dorsey (Deloris) and Earnest Dorsey; sisters- in-law, Mmes. Ruth Johnson and Catherine Johnson, a number of other relatives and friends. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM, Saturday, May 24, 2008 in the Rufus E. Payne Memorial Chapel of the mortuary, Rev. Jeffrey Francis, Associate Pastor of First Timothy Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Johnson will rest in the mortuary for visitation Friday from 5 PM until 8 PM (where the family will receive friends at 5 PM) and Saturday from 9 AM until the hour of service. Memorialization will be by Cremation. Cortege will assemble at 11695 Bridges Rd. under the direction of ALPHONSO WEST MORTUARY, INC., 4409 Soutel Dr. 904-766-9671. Aunt T,

We all will miss Uncle Gradson. I can remember the support he gave my mother and my family. He was like a father to us. I am sadden that I will not be able to share his homegoing. I will miss the times he would say to me "Gone girl". I will always cherish his memories and support. My love to the family.
