I had the honor of working with Mr. Gordon for 3 1/2 years and he was truly the nicest person I have ever met. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. He never met a stranger and he always made you feel like you were someone special. He was someone that will truly be missed. May God Bless You and Keep You in Your Time of Sorrow.

I worked with Gordon many years. He was truly a wonderful director to work with on funerals. There was most always something that ended with a chuckle, if not outright laughter. Gordon & I talked about some of those times as I visited him shortly before his death. He never lost his memory & sense of humor. As a coach driver, I looked forward to the funerals he was director on. Working in dispatch, he was a huge help to my job there. After my departure from the funeral home, we would still see one another & converse via phone. Gordon remained a dear friend until his earthly departure. I ask the Lord's blessing of peace & comfort to Gordon Jr., Michael & Courtney.

To the Gordon Hardage family -- Gordon was a life-long friend and colleague we have lost for now, but not forever. The memories are endless. For many years he made daily calls to our home, around 6:30 pm to discuss the day and the next day's schedule. (He had to get the call in before his early bedtime.) He was the type of person who's face lit up with his eyes. We were so privileged to visit him just prior to his Homegoing. We were both blessed by him. We prayed for him and then he continued the prayer by praying for Linda's health issues. As we leaned over to say goodbye, he said a final whispered prayer holding tight to our hands. We will NEVER forget it. We love you all.

Gordon Hardage, Sr. was an icon in funeral service. He was a professional you could depend upon to deliver warm and caring service to every family he touched. No matter how harried or under extreme pressure, Gordon had the unique ability to make each client-family feel they were the most important on one of the darkest days of their lives. Gordon trained and mentored countless colleagues and was a shining light for those who devoted their careers to funeral service. Gordon Hardage, of course, will be missed by all his associates at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Homes and Cemeteries. But, most of all, our community has lost a person who had a passion and love of caring for others.

Courtney, Micheal and Gordon Jr. I knew your Dad had been waging a battle for the last few years and I am very sorry to hear that he has passed on. Having had the experience of working with him over the years I knew him as a true inspiration and a true gentleman. He will be missed. I regret to say that I will have to be out of town during his service but I will be thinking of Him and you. The Hardage Family has been there for my family since the 1950's and I will always be thankful for what they did for us.

Dear Hardage Family
I cannot say enough for the ministry your family has given to countless families, including mine, for the past five decades. I have served with many of the staff in my role as a minister at many funerals with the caring and dedicated folks of Hardage. Mr. Hardage was indeed a man of Dignity and I will always remember him fondly. May God bless each of you in your hour of need and may we, the greater community of Jacksonville, now be the same support and encourager to you that your family has been to us.
Blessings
