ROBERT ACHATZ Obituary

ACHATZ ROBERT F. ACHATZ July 7, 1926 - May 17, 2011 Bob Achatz, 84, passed away at home in Ponte Vedra Beach after a long illness. A funeral Mass was said May 23 at Our Lady Star of the Sea. A second Mass will be held June 18, with internment at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, California. Born in Columbus, Ohio, to Herb and Lenore Achatz. Married to his devoted wife Barbara (Piccolo) for 53 years. Enjoyed a 35-year career with Fireman's Fund Insurance. Excelled at public speaking, wood-working, dancing, and joking with his grandchildren. He is honored by his wife; sons Gregory (Sharon) and Gordon; grandchildren Bryan, Tyler, Dana, Cassie, and Nick; and extended family members Nancy DeMartino and Nicole Riggs. The family extends gratitude to the physicians and staff of Mayo Clinic and hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com

i am very sorry to hear of the passing of mr. achatz. i lived next door to mr. achatz for a few years in sawmill lakes and he was always so fun to talk to in the driveway. he always had a smile or a fun story.
