BRONSON LAMB Obituary

LAMB Bronson Lamb died Thursday, June 23, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, in Charleston, SC, after complications from heart surgery. Born on September 19, 1926 in Jacksonville, FL, to Bronson Lamb and Nadia Mary Richardson. Bronson attended the Bolles School and Stetson University. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Battleship Wisconsin during World War II ( 3 years, 9 months, and 11 days). He was an avid boater since the age of 10, guided by his father. He enhanced the boating landscape in Jacksonville when he started Lamb's Yacht Center in 1960. Family, friends, and boating were his passion. He was past Commodore of the Florida Yacht Club and served on the Jacksonville Waterway Commission. He also served on the boards of Riverside Hospital and Christian Healing Ministries. In his latter years he and his wife created Lamb's Books, Inc., a prayer ministry, establishing thousands of worldwide prayer groups. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy, and son, John Patrick Lamb. He is survived by his wife, Joy Lamb, his sister Nadia Lamb Mead and her two children, his children, Michael Van Dyke (Greg), Bronson Lamb, III (Paula), Peggy Sue Williams (Johnny), Suzanne Franco (Bob), Anne Neilson (Clark), Beth Bowen (Billy), twenty-two grandchildren, five and a half great grandchildren, and beloved housekeeper Mercy D. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 11 a.m., at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 1100 Stockton Street. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made for the benefit of the ministry of Pastor Mercy Jones, New Stay in Touch with God Deliverance Ministries, Inc., 5541 Arlington Road, Suite 3, Jacksonville, FL 32211 or the charity of your choice. Dear Joy and family:

What a homecoming must be going on for our dear Bronson in heaven! He was such a humble and prayerful man. When I think of "The Sword of the Spirit" and how he supported you and others in prayer, I cannot help but smile. He graciously shared this life-changing book with millions -- so many lost, destitute and imprisoned people. I know there are many "Jewels in his Crown".

Sharing the marine industry with Bronson was a real priveledge, and I am proud to have shared moments with him over the years. I'll always remember getting off an airplane in Portland, ME and hearing a page for "Bronson Lamb" and, as there certainly was not many of these around, trying to greet him. Unfortunately, he left too early, but the incident remains in my memory! Bronson leaves him mark on marine history and will be missed.

I can not imagine "our" neighborhood without the "Ledgend" himself! Bronson was one of a kind. He was always the same no matter what the situation or who the person! He has caused many of us to enjoy good hearty laughs, never attemtpting to be funny....just Bronson! I recently had a nice conversation with him and as always: I felt better when he drove off! I will miss seeing him coming down the street and just knowing he was "there". To you his children: Continue living your lives with the love and lessons he taught and he will never be any further away than your own heart!
I feel Blessed to have known Bronson Lamb! From NC I send my condolences and heartfelt love, Annette Hemingway

Serving with Bronson on the Jacksonville Waterways Commission for 8 years provided the opportunity for me to meet and know Bronson. Bronson was one of the most gracious men I have ever met. When he spoke, his words were carefully selected and held great meaning. His sense of humor was a delight. He will be greatly missed, but has left a mark on the city that will not be forgotten. May God bless you and yours during your time of loss.
