Hello Nancy. I had often wondered what happened to you guys since you moved away and then a few months back, I found Jimmy on Facebook. I enjoyed chatting a bit with him and getting an update on your lives in the 40+ years since I've seen you both. Tonight I opened Facebook for the first time in awhile and was shocked and deeply saddened to read of Jimmy's death. My heart was filled with emotion reading all the condolences on his Facebook page and in his obituary guestbook. He sounds like an awesome man. Sending hugs and prayers to you, your children and everyone who loved Jimmy. God bless you all.

Dear Saffold family, I attend Fruit Cove Baptist Church and teach in the preschool department. Through the years, I have seen so many children walk into the classroom with big smiles on their faces and handfuls of lollipops, all because of "Mr. Jimmy". The children loved to ride on his golf cart and they were so exited to show us how many lollipops they got from Mr. Jimmy. He was a special person and loved by many. I'm so sorry for your loss and I cannot imagine the pain you are going through. I hope you find some comfort in knowing that his kindness touched the lives of so many people.

Sorry for your loss seems so inadequate, but there are no other words. Jimmy was the definition of Christ's servant. He set an example for all who knew him. From the preschoolers to the senior adults at FCBC, Jimmy touched everyone in some way. I will continue to pray for the family as you go through this difficult time. So glad we have HOPE for a future with Jimmy in heaven.

Jimmy was an amazing man. He touched our family and many others. He taught us what it was to have a servant attitude without the thought of what is in it for me. He is a man that is irreplaceable to so many. God blessed us with Jimmy and we look forward to seeing him again.

We both loved Jimmy. He was a wonderful man who loved The Lord and his fellow man. If there was a need, he was there doing it. His friendliness was a great example of leadership and he was as a lot of fun to be around. He will be forever missed.

We both loved Jimmy. Wherever there was a need, he was doing it. He was a wonderful man who loved The Lord and people and so much fun to be around. His friendliness was what a leader is supposed to be and a great example.

We are incredibly saddened to lose such a caring man with a generous and humorous attitude. I will always remember the years where we worked together in the backshop at Northrop Grumman where he made everyone laugh while getting the work done and talking about his Alabama Roll Tide! He was an incredibly caring and thoughtful coworker and everyone loved him. I will also cherish the memories and amazing examples that Jimmy set forth for the boys we coached together at Upward basketball. I have no doubt Jimmy is with the Lord now and will forever have him in my memory and his family in my prayers. Tim and Ely Brooks

To the family and friends of our "Mr. Jim" that we came to know and love at Fruit Cove Baptist Church, our prayers and condolences to you all. He was someone who always made us feel welcome and knew us not only by face but by our names! My kids gravitated to him whenever we parked to go into church and after service. They would scream for joy at seeing Mr. Jim knowing he would make them laugh as only he could do while driving that golf cart through the parking lot. He has made such a huge impression on us not only in his actions but through his sincere caring ways in serving others and God. We will always have those memories and are truly blessed knowing him all these years. He had abundant energy and enthusiasm. May he rest in peace now.

There is no doubt that Jimmy Saffold will be deeply missed. In all of my years as an active member of FCBC, I cannot think of another person that did more for others than Jimmy. He was a servant of others in the purest of ways. A man who truly followed the example of Christ as a servant to his brothers and sisters in Christ, the members of Fruit Cove Baptist and, more importantly, to anyone in need throughout our entire community. If something needed to be done or someone needed help, Jimmy would be the first to volunteer and, even more, rally others to help too. He has personally made a significantly positive impact on every member of my family. His legacy will carry on because he carried the love of Christ in his heart and shared it with everyone.

Jimmy has left a void in so many lives. But he set the standard and gave us a tremendous example of how we are to follow Christ and how we are to love one another. I love him and I will miss him. He touched so many lives in all that he did. I pray God's comfort over his entire family and our church family.

Mrs. Nancy I am so sorry for your loss. The words are inadequate to my own ears, but I am still so sorry. Mr. Jimmy was the sweetest man who never failed to make anyone one feel at home at the church. He really cared, which seems so simple, but not many accomplished what he did. He touched lives in a magical way and the world is less without him, but heaven has gained so much in return.

Mr. Jimmy will always be remembered and missed. He chased our boys down in the parking lot 'making' them take Mr. Jimmy's Wild Ride, and off course they always left with a lollipop (or two) each. He always thought of others and always offered help - he was truly selfless. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

The world was a better place with Uncle Jimmy in it and will be worse with his absence. Jimmy had big hands and a bigger heart that he opened to everyone. Many Christians can talk the talk but few can walk the walk, Uncle jimmy could do both. He will leave a void in my life that may never be repaired. Nancy, Brian, Bridget and Eric thanks for sharing your gift with my family.

Jimmy Saffold was truly a good man. Bob and I were honored to be his friends. While Bob was battling cancer, Jimmy gave us comfort spiritually and through his gentle friendship. My heart goes out to you, Nancy, and the shock you must be experiencing. I'm sure your faith will lead you to find your own strengths. Let your friends now help you.
