Mary Phillips Obituary

PHILLIPS Mary Frances Phillips, a beautiful spirit and near life-long resident of Jacksonville, FL, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 26, 2014 at the age of 58. Mary is survived by her mother, Marilyn Varnadore; her brothers, Johnny and James Varnadore; her sister, Cindy Page; her husband, Donald Neal; her children, Glenn, Stacy and Pamela Neal; and seven grandchildren, Logan, Christian, Jaden, Cameron, Nathan, Ethan and Conner. She is predeceased by her father, Jimmy Carlton Varnadore. Mary was born on a military base (Camp Lejeune) in North Carolina on February 7, 1956 to Jimmy and Marilyn Varnadore. In the summer of 1975, at the age of 19, she married Donald, her high school sweetheart. Shortly thereafter, they welcomed their first son, Glenn, into the world. On May 17, 1978 and December 28, 1983 respectively, they welcomed two more beautiful children, Stacy and Pamela. Together, the three children were the most important part of her life. Besides being an incredibly hard worker and making numerous sacrifices for the benefit of others, Mary was a loving and compassionate woman who made her family her priority. Once her grandchildren came along and up until the time of her sudden passing, at least one of them could always be found with her. Besides her children and grandchildren, Mary loved the mountains and the beach. Some of her favorite pastimes were their family vacations to North Carolina when they would camp and go sight-seeing through the Blue Ridge Parkway. She always enjoyed the beauty of nature even at home, as she loved to garden, tend to her flowers and take care of the yard. Mary will be remembered by those who loved her most dearly as the very glue that held the whole family together. A memorial service is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30 on the river at the home of family friend Randy Goodwin at 1730 River Bluff Road North in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of personal choice. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com

So sorry to hear about my cousin Mary from my Niece Nancy Thomas. I have not seen her for a long time but do remember the times we had growing up and staying with aunt Josie way back. She was always fun, happy and smiling a lot is what I remember about her. God bless the family she left behind.
