Joseph Reddock Obituary

REDDOCK Joseph Carmichael Reddock, Sr., 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. The family takes comfort in knowing he is with the Lord and reunited with many loving family members. He is survived by a daughter, Julie Reddock Davis; son in law, Kenneth Scott Davis; granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Davis; brother, John Thomas Reddock; sister, June Reddock Jessup. Joe was born on May 3, 1946 to Clifford and Clint Reddock in Eastman, Georgia. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy at the University of Georgia and worked as a retail Pharmacist for many years. He had a very successful career. Joe had an extensive client following and his clients would generally follow him to the location he was working in. More than anything though, Joe was a loving and caring father. He had a protective, nurturing nature about him. Joe enjoyed watching the University of Georgia Bulldogs play in the fall and returned to Georgia for family reunions. He loved walking on the beach, Sunday television nights, technology, investing, and had a huge compassion for animals. Joe had an enthusiasm for gardening/landscaping and enjoyed bird watching in his backyard. We will celebrate his life at a service to be held at Ponte Vedra Valley, at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082. Reception to follow. I just found out what happened to one of the first pharmacists I ever met. One of the nicest souls. I worked with Joe for several years at Eckerd Drugs until I went off to Pharmacy school. He taught me the proper to label a bottle and to make sure every label was neatly placed!!! Miss you Joe!!!

I worked with Joe at several Eckerd and then CVS locations as both a pharmacy tech and assistant manager over the course of probably 15 years or more. It's been quite a while since I left that business, but I'll always remember Joe. He was always kind, mild-mannered, and often quiet. The best way to get Joe talking would be to ask how his daughter and later granddaughter were doing. Julie and Jessica were definitely the apples of his eye. His entire demeanor would change when he'd speak of you both. May you find peace during this most difficult of times.

I worked with Joe at Eckerd/CVS for at least 5 years. I remember his "breakfast" at least once a week was a Snickers bar and a classic Coke. I had so much fun working with him. He was happy to take my good natured ribbing from time to time too. He was suffering from an injured back at one point and I noticed he was using pharmacy labels to reach the last inch of space from his fingers to whatever he'd dropped on the floor. I started mimicking him. For whatever reason he thought it was very funny and started demanding that I continue to pick things up in that manner. I hadn't seen or talked to him for many years, but I think of him often. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.
