Paul L. SMITH

SMITH Paul L. Paul L. Smith, 78, of Temperance, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2011. Born May 26, 1932, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Gerald M. and Ruth L. (Sheets) Smith. A 1951 graduate of Whitmer High School, he served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Paul married Sheralyn Peugeot on Sept. 11, 1954. He owned and operated Country Gentleman Barbershop; served as special deputy for Monroe County Sherriff's Department; worked for the Bedford Public Schools, Toledo Hospital and University of Toledo in security; and was a former Bedford Twp. Constable. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Surviving are his loving wife, Sheralyn; children, Cheryl (Dennis) Lee, Michelle (Rob) Pettrey, Paul Raymond Smith, and Brian Smith. Brother, Leo (Chimera) Smith. Sisters, Vivian (Charlie) Faircloth, Terry Saunders, Beverly Smith, Carolyn (Larry) Crosby and Charlene Jackson, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3-9 pm Sunday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 am in Emmanuel Baptist Church, 4207 Laskey Rd., Toledo, OH 43623, where he will lie in state after 9:30 am. Pastor Dennis Lee, officiating. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
