Mark WISNIEWSKI Obituary

WISNIEWSKI Mark It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Mark Wisniewski, 61, on July 18, 2012. Mark died in surgery following a car accident in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Mark was born in Tiffin, Ohio in 1951 to Lawrence and Theodora Wisniewski. He attended school in Minnesota, and lived there nearly forty years before moving to Toledo, Ohio in 2001. A tax accountant by vocation, Mark was an adventurer at heart: an avid runner, biker, cross-country skier, and kayaker, often using the wooden kayak he built himself. Mark loved to travel and was always seeking out new experiences-he recently took up yoga, curling, and skijoring. Mark was also committed to service: active in the leadership of the First Unitarian Church of Toledo, advocating for the protection of clean water resources and regularly donating blood. He loved celebrations that included good food and wine, and pursued winemaking as a hobby for the last ten years, expressing his artistic instinct. Most of all, Mark loved his family and friends. His mischievous sense of humor and joyful spirit brightened the lives of all who knew him. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Theodora. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ellen L. Kluz; son, Garrett Kluz-Wisniewski; daughter, Lauren K.W. Brennan; son-in-law, Peter Brennan; father, Lawrence Wisniewski; sisters, Joanne (Ron) Burnett, Andrea (Vince) Pellegrino, and Michelle (Russ) Reinhardt; brothers, Matthew (Laura) Wisniewski, Luke Wisniewski, John (Mary) Wisniewski, Peter (Carol) Wisniewski, Paul (Janet) Wisniewski, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. A memorial service for Mark will be held on July 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., at First Unitarian Church of Toledo, 3205 Glendale Ave., Toledo, Ohio. There will also be a tribute to Mark in Minnesota on August 19, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark's name to Ohio Citizen Action or the American Red Cross. I recently be became aware of Mark's death. He was one of my best friends in high school at St. John's Prep. We paled around together and he stayed at my house for a time after school got out because the graduation ceremony was a few days later and it wasn't time effective to have him go home to Michigan and then come back. We had a great time and I also fondly recall our days together at St.John's University. May he blessed with eternal peace. May you be blessed with his memory as am I.

While trying to make sense of this double tragedy, I can only reason that Mr. Wisniewski and our nephew, Patrick, were called upon to join together for a greater purpose.
