Irene Alice
Irene A. Futrell, 89, of Toledo passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Detroit Ave. Irene was born on August 1, 1926, in Hurst, IL to Herbert and Annie Futrell. She had attended the State School for the Deaf and was very active for many years in the Toledo Deaf Club. Irene was also a member of the Good Shepherd of the Deaf Lutheran Church.
Irene was the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews and is survived by a sister, Bonnie McKenna, and brother, Herbert Futrell.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016, at The Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials in Irene's name be to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. river Rd., Perrysburg, 43551.

Irene was a wonderful adult friend to me when I was a kid. We used to play cards together whenever my family visited. She was great fun and had a wonderful laugh. I always looked forward to seeing her. Rest in peace, Irene.
