I am so sorry to learn of Dan's sudden passing. I had the pleasure of working with him on several occasions during my time at ETS and Dan was always kind, considerate, and a wealth of knowledge, a true benefit to not only ETS but the world. My sympathies to his family and friends.

I first came to know Dan in 1993 when he commented on my use of the term "test equating". This topic remained Dan's favourite over the years. In his last email on December 14, 2011 Dan reiterated that, "I'm a good person to pay attention to equating though; god knows I've done a lot of it. I'll equate "into the sunset". My deepest sympathy to Linda. May your memories bring you comfort.

Dan was a wonderful person. He combined humility with professional excellence. Several years ago, he consulted for SLTI as a member of a team that reviewed the equating procedures used at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey. He was always thoughtful and reasonable. It was always a pleasure to see him and Linda at conferences and meetings. My deepest sympathy to Linda over her loss.

I will remember Dan warmly as a friend, a teammate in intramural softball, and an avid competitor on the basketball courts. Many will miss him, and for many reasons. With sympathy to his family,

I formally met Dan approximately 25 years ago as a member of the ETS College Board Nuts softball team. We had a great team and he was a great guy.
In this time of loss, may the love of God surround you with His grace during your time of sorrow. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
With sympathy,

It is extremely sad to hear Dan has passd away. He was a giant in his field, such a kind and lovable giant. With his dceep insight he was able to weigh contentious matters appropriately and see the relative value of diffrent pints of view. I will miss his quiet wisdom and frinedship and realize how much heavier this will be for his family. I wish you strength. You have great memories to to support you.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Linda and the family. Dan's gift was his passion for testing and measurement. So, it is especially difficult for us in the ATP community to express how much he will be missed. Those who had the pleasure of working with Dan could easily appreciate the spirit, yet quiet professionalism, of the man. Dan, you enriched us and by that enrichment, know that your legacy will endure.

For those closest to Dan, sorrow is a burden that words cannot lighen, but they should know that it is also shared by all who have had the good fortune to know and work with him.

We are so sorry to hear the sad news about Dan. It is a great loss to your family and the testing field. We miss him dearly. As our friend and mentor, he had and will continue to inspire us. His sense of humor brought us so many laughable memories.
May he rest in peace in an eternal garden where he can continue to nurture beautiful flowers.

Dan was such a intelligent yet humble mentor that he always treated his colleagues with much respect and was always willing to help them solve problems of any magnitude. I got to knew Dan back in 2003 when I started seeking his advice on various technical issues in a new development project and had sought his advice ever since on different projects. He was so easy to talk to and to get along with, and I was very impressed by his attention to details when it came to a technical issue or an editing suggestion. I think all my colleagues here who know Dan share the same memories of him. We definitely will miss you, Dan. God bless you.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
