Henrietta Margaret "Peggy" Bell, of Latrobe, former clinical director of nursing Latrobe Area Hospital, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at home. She was born Jan. 10, 1937, to the late John J. Barlock and Emma (Houck) Barlock at Latrobe Area Hospital and grew up in Whitney. Peggy graduated from Latrobe High School in 1954; from Latrobe School of Nursing in 1957; and received her bachelor's degree from IUP in 1969. As a registered nurse, she worked at Bataan Memorial Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M., for about two years before returning to work at Latrobe Area Hospital for the remainder of her career. She held various positions for 36 years mostly a clinical director of nursing from which she retired. She was a volunteer for the 1964 Whip Polio Program, American Red Cross (Baby Care Classes, Service person and family contact) and
The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society for newly diagnosed patients. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, John J. Jr. (stillborn) and Charles F. (also his wife, Audrey); parents-in-law, Thomas and Emma Bell; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Bell. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Kenneth Bell; two fantastic daughters, Lynette Bell, of Swansea, Ill., and Sandra Overly (husband, Timothy), of Ligonier Township; one brother, James Barlock (wife, Nancy), of Acme; two wonderful grandchildren, Nathan Overly (wife, Stacy), of Derry Township, and Julie Overly (husband, Chris Nemcheck), of Florida; pride of the future great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Audrey, and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Dillon and Kiera; brother-in-law, Russel Bell; and sister-in-law, Patricia (husband David Horner). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her very best friend, Caryl Geary. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at St. Cecelia's Church, in Whitney, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, as celebrant, assisted by family friend, the Rev. Earl J. Henry, OSB. Internment will be private.
