Dearest Dr. Kiely:
Mirella just shared with me the deeply sad news--- I am also very troubled by your loss. Our last exchange of emails was on Feb the 3rd… now I understand that was a few days before you left us (and you did not mention anything about your illness). Thank you for being happy for my dad and for your comforting words about my friend Soha who died recently. I feel like repeating your own words about my friend to you: “Surely” you are “hanging out with God right now”! For that, I am very happy for you, despite the sorrow I have in my heart right now. Thank you for all the inspiration, for our friendship (I feel so blessed)… Last but not least, I can never say thank you enough for all your contribution to the Teaching and Clinical Practice of Psychology as well as your devotion to Academia at the University of Montreal. I will always cherish your memory, remember your words of wisdom, and pray for you. Your seminar “Death Psychology” will remain my favourite graduate course. I wish my students could have had the chance of taking such course with you. Thank you and good-bye (rest in peace now). As the French song goes, “ce n’est qu’un au revoir”… From the bottom of my heart, Rima

I was a student of Sister Kiely at the University of Montreal. She was the president of my PhD. committee. I am learning of her death today as I searched for her email. I wanted to invite her to comment on my first book entitled: The Courage to Fall into Life: The Tao of Purposeful Existence. I know she would have enjoyed the story, and the many lessons learned along the way. I am deeply troubled by her loss. She will be missed terribly. In our last correspondence, I shared with her my life. In her reply, she did not mention her illness. I guess she wanted me to remember her the way she used to be.
