Gisela Lafferty Obituary

Gisela M Lafferty On May 21st, 2011 our beloved mother, Oma, and friend peacefully passed away at home in DuPont, WA at the age of 74 after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Gisela Maria Lafferty was born in Waiblingen, Germany on June 29th, 1936. She came to the United States in 1964 after marrying her husband Edward A. Lafferty III. She was a successful business woman who owned and operated King Cleaners, Inc. in Federal Way, WA. She lived in Lakewood, WA and retired in 1990. She moved to DuPont in 2000 and shortly thereafter became President of the Savannah Oaks Homeowners' Association. She was passionate about caring for the community she so loved, and served in this role until she began her battle with cancer in 2010. Gisela's grandchildren proved to be her greatest joy. Their antics and stories thrilled her endlessly. Oma was best-known for her beauty, warmth, candor, and the will to fight for whom or what she believed. Her smile was as bright as any jewel she ever wore, and her laughter was quick and contagious. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and will be greatly missed. We take great comfort knowing she is watching over us. A special thanks to the team at Hematology Oncology NW for their generous and comforting care during her fight with cancer. Jeni, Deb, Tina, Jackie, and Dr. Oliveira provided tireless support and wisdom during the journey. Gisela is survived by her son Eddie (Colleen) Lafferty of Bonney Lake, WA, son Dan Lafferty of DuPont, WA, her grandchildren Karli, Kaila and Dalton Lafferty, Alexander and Victoria Stemp, her sister Gerda Huber of Schwabish Gmund, Germany, countless friends, and her sidekick Junior. A service to honor her memory is planned for June 4th, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the DuPont Community Center, 303 Barksdale Avenue in Historic DuPont.

Eddie, Colleen and Dan,
I am so sorry about mom. She was such a strong person, it's hard to believe she's gone. Dalton misses her so very much. Take heart in knowing she's out of pain now and watching over all of you from above. This is such a good picture of her and a wonderful write up too. If there is anything I can do please let me know.

I will never forget Gisela! I started doing her hair many years ago, and fast became very fond of her. I enjoyed her stories and, was always happy to see her out walking her dog where we would stop for a chit chat. I am sad to hear of her passing, and I offer my condolences to the family. Thank you for sharing your wonderful Gisela with me. I will miss her greatly!
