ROSE BRAU Obituary

Rose M. Brau 1924 - 2011 Rose May Brau, who was born in Seattle May 15, 1924, died peacefully in Tacoma on March 5, 2011 of age-related causes. She was 86 years old. In 1942 Rose was graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma and married James Brau. She served in the U.S Women's Army Corps during WWII, and worked for 24 years at McChord AFB, rising from telephone switchboard operator to Chief Operator before retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Faith Chapter No. 255 of the Grand Chapter of Washington. Her interests included her pet miniature poodles, crocheting, craft work, playing cards, gambling at Keno tables in Reno, and family gatherings. Rose's loving, creative spirit, her devotion to family, her contagious laugh, and her sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jim, her infant daughter Marijane, her parents Raymond Nist and Lillian Manahan, and her sister Lois "Jimmie" Thiel. She is survived by sons James Brau (Mary) of Eugene and John Brau (Karen) of Tacoma; grandchildren Jacqueline Pate (Wayne), John Brau (Sherry), Benjamin Brau (Molly Moss), and Daniel Brau (Tess Powers); great-grandchildren Brandon and Lindsay Pate, and Keith, Allison, Sarah, Judson, and Beckett Brau; two nieces, and four nephews. A Celebration of Life and reception will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, in the Willow Room at Mountain View Memorial Park. The family suggests donations in her memory be sent to the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County.

We always enjoyed having you as our neighbor, when we lived on the south end of town. You were so sweet to our daughter who also loved the poddles. We have many memories of her and our family. We will miss you

Such a good friend and neighbor to us, always kind and cheerful and generous. We missed living next to her. Our hearts are very sore and have an empty place now. But we have many fond memories as well.
