Virgil East Obituary

Virgil Thomas "Bud" East, 69, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at his residence on Hunterscreek Road in Monroe County where he had lived his entire life.
Virgil graduated from Heltonville High School in 1961 and retired from Cummins Engine Company with 43 years of service in 2006. He was a member of Burgoon Baptist Church.
Born April 8, 1943, he was the son of Burl and Berlie Fleetwood East, both of whom preceded him in death. On April 14, 2012, he married Anita Cadaweller Glosser, who survives.
Other survivors included two daughters, Marilyn (Terry) Mullins, Columbus, and Virginia Gayle Smith, Waco, Texas; three sons, Jeffery Thomas (Kiki) East, Theresa, N.Y., Chris (Debbie) East, Bloomington, and Michael Brownfield, of the U.S. military; three stepdaughters, Debbie Stout, Austin, Michelle Beavers, Seymour, and Becky (James) Kirk, Bedford; three sisters, Pearl Blake, Bloomington, Resa Sowders and Bertha Sue (Kenny) Scroggins, both of Bedford; 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; and his first wife and dear friend, Maxine Lentz Andis, Columbus.
He was preceded in death by a son, Scott East; stepson, Bryan Malone; step-grandson, Patrick Stout; son-in-law, Ted Wampler; sister, Edith East; sister and brothers-in-law, Leon and Emma East Axsom, Columbus, and Wayne and Grace East Page, Bloomington; and three brothers-in-law, Richard Blake, Paul Sowders and Edward Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Burgoon Baptist Church, 8598 E. Burgoon Church Road, with Brother Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will take place at Mitchell Cemetery on Hunterscreek Road.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, Heltonville, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.
According to Virgil's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Burgoon Baptist Church.
