Welton E. Alberring

Welton E. Alberring, 68, Columbus, passed away at 9:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Welton was born on Feb. 27, 1943, in Seymour, the son of Lawrence Edward and Josephine Marie Hehman Alberring.
He graduated from Seymour High School in 1961 and, in 1962, joined the Indiana National Guard and served from 1962 through 1968. Welton married Carolyn Sue Dettmer on June 18, 1967, at St. John's Lutheran Church, White Creek. He was co-owner of Alberrings Garage Inc. and owner of Alberring Farms.
Mr. Alberring served on several boards and held various positions at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Hand Bell Choir at Immanuel.
He is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 44 years; a daughter, Karen (Larry) Abbott; a son, Kevin (Jennifer) Alberring; five grandchildren: Evan and Chloe Abbott and Trevor, Ethan and Adam Alberring; a brother, Duane (Kathy) Alberring; and two nephews, Jason (Kalee) Alberring and Dustin Alberring.
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Ralph Blomenberg, Philip Bloch and James Rodriguez and Vicar Martin Dressler officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 89, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour, at Riverview Cemetery after the service.
