She departed this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Webster County Community Hospital in Red Cloud at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 3 days. A lifelong resident of the Red Cloud community, Pam received her formal education attending the Red Cloud schools, graduating with the class of 1959. She was united in marriage with Dean Eugene Zalman on June 7, 1959 at Red Cloud. This union was blessed with three children, Mark, Jackie and Mike. Pam was employed for a number of years as an assistant with Farm Life, and worked for over 18 years with the FSA (ASCS) Office in Red Cloud. Most recently, she worked with Fountaine Microfilming. Pam was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was an avid bowler and participated for years in the women's bowling league. She was a dedicated and faithful fan of Nebraska football and always remained passionate to the team. In her leisure time she enjoyed golf and playing cards with friends. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dean of Red Cloud; her children Mark and Leisa Zalman of Red Cloud; Jackie and Bob Fountaine of Red Cloud; and Mike and Carmen Zalman of Lincoln, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren, Stacy Fountaine; Micki Carraher and husband Chase, and son, Kyler; Kelsey Fountaine; Jordan Holl; and Skyler and Currey Zalman; a sister, Janice Black and husband Bob of Lincoln, Nebraska; other relatives and her many friends. Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Red Cloud with the Rev. Richard Fairbanks officiating. Marcy Thompson sang "After the Rain" and "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" with Harriett Zade, organist.
