E.C. Owens Obituary

FREDERICKSBURG – E.C. "Buck" Owens, 74, a native of Stratton and Dickenson County, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at his home.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict and had retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren. He was a member of McClure Kiwanis Club in McClure and was well-known in the area as a bluegrass mandolin player.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Owens; his mother, Estelle Owens of Stratton; two daughters, Debbie McInnis and her husband Steve of Locust Grove and Dina Shiflett of Nashville; two sons, Jimmy Owens and his wife Sharon of Stafford County, Va.; Dean Owens and his wife Debbie of Spotsylvania County, Va.; two stepchildren, Karl Scheibe and his wife Dorothy of Stafford County and Lori Scheibe of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Cherie Stout of Bristol Virginia; son-in-law, Mike Shiflett of Fredericksburg; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, Leland Owens, and two brothers, Park Owens and Gary Owens.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in Laurel Hill Memorial Park, with the Rev. William E. Jeffcoat officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
