ABINGDON, Va. – Litty Alice Gobble, age 88, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, in the Valley Health Care Center.
She was born in Washington County, Va., a daughter of the late Elbert Gobble and Rachael Reynolds Gobble. She was a lifelong resident of the area. Alice was a crafty lady who enjoyed sewing, embroidery and making quilts. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and also attended Chestnut Grove Community Church.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnie Ward Gobble; son, Dana "Smiley" Gobble; granddaughter, Tammy Salyer; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include four children, Cecil Gobble and wife Nancy of Abingdon, Agnes Salyer and husband Paul of Bristol Virginia, George Gobble and wife Pat of Abingdon, Danie Gobble and wife Ann of Bristol Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Gretchen McCroskey of Bristol Virginia; brother, Beecher Gobble and wife Ardelia of Abingdon; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces; and nephews.
The family wishes to say a special thanks to the 2nd floor staff at the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie for the care given to both Mrs. Gobble and her family.
Funeral services for Litty Alice Gobble will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Bob McCormick, the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers and Brother Calvin Gobble officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 p.m. until service time. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Knollkreg Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.
Friends may visit the family at the residence of Cecil and Nancy Gobble, 343 Morningside Drive, Abingdon at anytime.

Frost Funeral Home, 250 E. Main St. Abingdon, Va., is serving the Gobble family.
