Mary Brummitte

NORTON, Va. – Mary Jane Brummitte, 45, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009, at her residence, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
Jane was born Dec. 4, 1963, to Jim and Pauline Brummitte. She graduated from J.J. Kelley High School in 1982 and Clinch Valley College in 1987. She taught special education at Coeburn Middle School for five years, having to retire due to M.S.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Brummitte, in 2003.
She is survived by her loving mother, Pauline Brummitte, Norton; a sister, Phyllis Brummitte, Norton; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Jewell Brummitte, Nickelsville, Va.; brother, Dennis Brummitte, Wise, Va.; grandmother, Effie Brummitte, Norton; and a host of relatives and friends.
Jane had three special caregivers, Dianna Sturgill, Anna Mae Mullins and Annette Freeman, who provided many years of loving care.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Benny Boles officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
