LINDA BLACK-SMITH Obituary

LINDA KAY BLACK-SMITH

Our mother, daughter and dear friend went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 6, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. Linda was born April 20, 1954, in Kennewick, Washington, to Cecil and Patricia Black. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She will be dearly missed by her two children, Lyndsey Morris and Ben Smith; her granddaughter Briley Kay Morris, who she adored; her parents Patricia and Cecil Black; brothers, Don Black and Tom Black of Kennewick, Gary and wife Barb Black of Bremerton, stepson Skip Smith of Kennewick, nieces and nephews and her beloved best friends Shelli Sickler, Audrey Showalter, Rebecca Hammack, Dian Judkins, Louis Scribner and Debbie Feltch among many other friends and daycare kids.

Linda lived in Kennewick her entire life. She was a devoted mother and was always doing what she could for others. She graduated from Kamiakin High School. She worked at Payless Drug Store. After her second child was born, she wanted to stay home with her children and opened an in-home daycare. She was a second mother to many children. She also enjoyed making crafts with the ladies of City Church and scrapbooking with her girl friends on Saturdays. She was a member of the Rattle Snake Ridge Riders. She loved camping in the Blue Mountain and trips to the ocean. Her greatest joy in life was her granddaughter Briley. She enjoyed watching her and having her beside her during many trips to Seattle for treatments. Briley would always make her smile no matter what the news she would get. She will be dearly missed by the many lives she touched.

Linda's faith in Jesus Christ was an important part of her life. For many years she was a member of Kennewick First Assembly of God Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and worked with the Royal Rangers program. Most recently she shared her faith in Jesus Christ at the Living Room Church.

Memorial services will be held on March 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the City Church in Kennewick, 4624 W 10th Ave., Kennewick, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Linda Kay Smith through Bank of America.
