WILLIAM (BILL) LEE SHELBY 2/9/33-2/11/17 In his greatest triumph, William (Bill) Lee Shelby went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on February 11, 2017. One of six children, Bill was born on Feb 9, 1933 in Terra Haute, Indiana to William and Bessie Shelby, growing up in Indiana and Michigan and moving 21 times before graduating from high school. At thirteen, he started busing dishes in a large hotel, then worked his way to cook there as well at a local country club. In 1952, he married Dorothy Billman and had two children, Bruce Lee and Cyndi Ann, who gave Bill four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. In 1994, he married Diana Brooks and made her two childrenJoshua Daniel and Sandra Pearlhis own. They gave them three grandchildren. n 2016, Bill and Diana gained custody of Nathaniel Lee Searcy, proving it's never too late to add to your family. Bill stayed active in each of their lives and made sure each child, grandchild and great grandchild knew the joy and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ. He would sing with his tenor voice every chance he could, and would hunt and fish, always taking a family member with him. Bill became a Christian in 1956 and gave his Lord his all. He went to Grace Brethren Seminary starting in 1958. He became a minister of the Christian Church of Monroe, Indiana. He has pastored in the Grace Brethren Churches in Chico, CA; Grandview, WA; and Prosser, WA. His life verse is Jerimiah 33:3. He was also a business owner. He owned Dolly Varden Caf‚ successfully in Prosser for 13 years. He also co-owned Dentures 4 U for 17 years, retiring just last year. Bill made sure he knew the condition of every soul entering the front door. Bill's greatest wish is for each of you to ask God's Son, Jesus Christ, to control your life. Preceded in death by his father, mother, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. His wife, brother, 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 12 Great grandchildren will miss him deeply. The Celebration Service will be at Richland Baptist Church 1632 George Washington Way, Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 1 PM.
