Eugene J. Cardish

Eugene J. Cardish BRUNSWICK - Eugene J. Cardish, 88, of Troy, NY and Tequesta, FL passed away November 3rd, 2014 after a brief illness. Gene was born in Troy, the son of the late Margaret Shevy and Edmund Cardish. He attended LaSalle Institute and Siena College and also served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He spent 50 years of his life working and running the family business, Cardish Machine Works, Inc. He was a longstanding member of The Country Club of Troy NY. Gene was devout in his Christian faith and a former member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Adoration Society St. Paul’s Church, Troy, NY and a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church Troy, NY and St. Jude Church, Tequesta FL. Throughout his lifetime he was an avid golfer, ski patrolman and fisherman. He also was a former toastmaster. He was the devoted husband of Lureen Debonis Cardish for 20 years. Gene was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years and the mother of his six children, Mary-Joan Boland Cardish. Survivors include his children, Lisa (Mark) Lebowitz of Gansevoort, E. J. (Lynn) Cardish, Jr. of Troy, Jonathan (Jack Stout) Cardish of Denver CO, Tara (Joseph) Reilly of Troy, Karen Cardish Lang of Troy and Charlie (Nancy) Cardish of Averill Park, as well as his stepchildren, Allison (Bill) Schnell of Jericho, NY, Anthony (Lella) Debonis of Loudonville, Liz (Paul) Stanton of Dedham MA and Brent (Irma) Debonis of Ecuador, South America . He also is survived by 21 beautiful grandchildren and his sister, Dr. Edna Cardish of Tucson AZ. A Memorial Service and Burial will be held, Friday, November 28th at 10:00am at The Gardner Earl Memorial Chapel, Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, NY.
