Rita Halek

Rita M. Halek NORTH WALES, PA – Rita M. DeLucia Halek, formerly of Troy, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at her residence at the Solana Horsham in North Wales, PA. Her four children were at her bedside and, with Rita conducting, sang favorite Christmas carols. Rita was born in Troy, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Carmina Aurno DeLucia. She was raised and educated in Troy and was a resident for most of her life before moving to Pennsylvania five years ago to be near her daughter Carla. She was employed by the former Williams Press in Menands as a secretary before raising her family and becoming a homemaker. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy, and a member of the Watervliet Elks Lodge. Rita was a warm and colorful person who enjoyed sharing her passion for music with all. She loved shopping and working out at Curves in Brunswick and the Troy Senior Center. She was the wife of the late Chester J. Halek, who died in 2004; loving mother of David (Kathleen) Halek of Brookfield, CT, Dr. Mark (Alma) Halek, DDS of Altamonte Springs, FL, Carla (Michael) Smyth of North Wales, PA and Kevin (Jennifer) Halek of Colonie; adored grandmother of Gregory and Brianna Halek, Mike, Matt and Jack Smyth, Lauren and Ben Halek; sister of Angelina (late Joseph) Halek of Troy and the late Olympia DeLucia, Immaculata Benedette and Carl DeLucia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Saturday at 9 am from the Doran Funeral Home, 9 South Lake Avenue, Troy and at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm.
