I think about you Jon when I'm out hiking. We had some great adventures - and misadventures. Good wines, much laughter and a lot of fun times. I'm sorry that your rabbit died while I was house sitting for you. Hopefully the two of you have reconnected.

Blessings on you and your family, my old friend. We had many good times together, filled with much laughter. Your laugh - I loved it; it can never be duplicated. It was beyond contagious, it was epidemic. You will be missed greatly.

Rest in peace Jon. The pleasant Sundays working together in Periodicals will always be remembered. One of the great

Jon was my friend for over 40 years. Jon and I climbed almost every peak around Tucson. We nearly froze to death on Rincon Peak; died of thirst on Wasson Peak, ran out of gas near the Chiricahuas and experienced almost every other hiking calamity imaginable. We had great fun. The hiking trips were not complete without gourmet food and fine wines. We will all miss you Jon.

My deepest sympathy to Jon's family.
My brother Ivan and I first met Jon back in 1964? He used to housesit for the Harlans during the summer when they went off to do dendrochronology field work in some forgotten mountain range.
Jon was always ready to laugh and ready to offer some witticism that made the rest of us laugh. That quality probably helped him survive his tour with the Marines.
For the longest time he drove his old faded blue car, named ? the Beast? But when he showed up from time to time with Alfred Curtis in Alfred's Corvette, we knew it would be a laughing time to remember.
Sundays were for hiking and chess games. I can still see the looks of intense concentration on Jon's and Tomas' faces as they pursued what seemed to be one long chess game. I miss those times.
I miss you Jon. May you hike through grassy meadows, find a bubbling brook with cold water (and maybe a few cold beers), enjoy a distant vista and rest in peace for all time.

To the family of Jon I want to extend my condolences. We worked together for 11 years at the Jail and he was truly a wonderful friend. I was saddened to hear of his illness and passing. My best wishes go out to all of Jon's family. Jeanne Duguay
