Maurice "Maury" Schlossberg

Maurice "Maury" Schlossberg Born in Vienna, Austria on February 17, 1920 passed away on June 4, 2011 with his wife of 62 years, Amy Spears Schlossberg, at his side. Maury arrived in the United States in 1939 became a citizen in 1943. A member of the U.S. Army during WWII, he landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day 1944. Recipient of the Purple Heart, he graduated from Springfield College in 1951 with a B.S. and in 1952 with a M.S. Throughout his life he was involved in physical activities; from education to water safety as well as skiing as an instructor or on a dance floor. Maury was a race car driver and a member of the SCCA and FIA. He owned his own sports car dealership in Springfield, MA. Appointed to the Pima County Planning Commission; Pima Assoc. of Governments; Arizona Commission of Indian Affairs and Sheriff's Auxiliary. Member of Tanque Verde Valley Assoc; Saguaro Forest Assoc; Southern Arizona Environmental Council; Friends of Saguaro National Park; Arizona Desert Museum and Sports Car Club of America. Past President of Elmcrest Country Club, Springfield, MA and Rolling Hills Golf Club, Tucson. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, followed by Graveside Service at 1:30 p.m. at Desert Vista Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Saguaro National Park or Arizona Desert Museum.
