Portia Davis

Portia Davis A Tucson resident, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was 72 years old. Portia was born September 27, 1938 in Roxboro, NC, daughter of Morris and Mabel Stanfield. Her early education was in Roxboro, NC. She moved to New York where she met and married Carnell Davis. To this union four children were born. Portia worked for over 20 years as a housekeeper. When she retired she moved to Tucson, AZ and resided there for 18 years. Mrs. Davis was a member of Prince Chapel A.M.E. Church, and she loved the Lord. Mrs. Davis is survived by daughters, Linda F. Davis and Melissa (Missy) Davis of Tucson, AZ and Alma J. Davis of San Diego, CA; sisters, Irma G. Smith of Mt. Vernon, NY, Helen P. Shine of Queens, NY, Lois M. Gatlings of Bronx, NY, Marjorie Shannon of Long Island, NY and Cleo Stukes of Roxboro, NC; two brothers, Willie M. Stanfield of Houston, TX and Tommie D. Stanfield of Bronx, NY; eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Carnell Davis of Tucson, AZ; her son, Anthony L. Davis, Sr. of San Diego, CA and daughter, Teresa Y. Davis of Bronx, NY. Funeral Service 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Prince Chapel A.M.E. Church, 602 S. Stone with Pastor Robert L. Ned officiating. Visitation from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
