Donald Arnold Obituary

ARNOLD, Donald Edward, 78, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on August 16, 2011. He was born on April 19, 1933, in Keokuk, IA, the youngest of six children. He spent his early childhood just across the Mississippi River in Hamilton, IL, before moving with his family to Tucson, AZ, where he graduated from Tucson High School in 1951. He touched many lives as a strong and committed leader with the Communications Workers of America for over 38 years, from the local and state levels in Arizona and Virginia to district levels, including the international headquarters in Washington, DC. In 1988, he traveled to Chile as an observer of the plebiscite election. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, cooking, and music – he played the drums as a young man. His passion and humor will be missed. Don is survived by his sister, Evelyn Harding; daughter, Cathy; sons, Kenneth (Yolanda) and Kent; daughter Kimberly; and five grandsons. He was preceded in death by his infant son, John. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 6:30 p.m., at IBEW Hall, 5808 N. 7th St., Phoenix.
