Geyen Family,

It was a honor to get the opportunity to meet Carter and to coach him this past spring. I will always remember his big smile and passion for the game. His energy was something that passed to his teammates and will always be there.

Sorry again for your loss, your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

There are so many caring people that have responded to the death of Carter. I hope you will plant a tree in the park or pay for a memorial bench in honor of Carter. He was a very special boy. My heartfelt sympathy. May God care you through your pain.

Dear Geyen Family,
My heart and mind is saddened by Carter's death. I had the honor of being his preschool teacher at the Lab School-U of MN. My memories of him are of a little sweet boy on a mission to build with blocks, learn all about bulldozers, trucks and backhoes and always forever exploring. I am so sorry for your loss. My love to your family.

I know that words are unable to fill the void that is in your hearts right now, memories, frinds and family can really help out more than you may know. I am so very sorry for the loss of your son Carter!! I can't imagine what your going through! Your son looked like an amazing kid full of life and energy and a true God send!! I don't your family, but that day your son died I did meet you ever so briefly. I was one of the responding Paramedics that took care of Carter and I can tell you that the Roseville Police, Roseville FD and the Medics at Allina worked so very hard to have a different outcome!! We are so very sorry for your loss!! I hope that God will grant you peace and that your days become less and less hurtful with everyday that goes by!! God Bless You all!!!

Dear Geyens;

I can't imagine the pain you must be enduring of losing your son! Your son Carter will be missed by so many people! I never got the chance to know Carter. I lived very close to that area. He was obviously a very bright and loving child! He is now in the arms of God, looking down on you. He will always be remembered and will always be with you! I hope your family can find peace in knowing Carter was able to bring you 12 years of joy to your lives. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. I will tie a ribbon on my race kart for Carter and your family when I go racing again this weekend. God Bless you all!

August 8, 2010

We will miss Carter and always remember his enthusiasm and love for life. Our house always had a little more energy when he was around. He and Carson were two peas in a pod. They were always playing, building, inventing, flying, floating, etc. something. If there is a "Myth Busters" in Heaven, surely Carter is a host. He also had a special kindness for animals. He absolutely adored our cat Boo. Stephen, Karolyn, and Jacob - There's nothing we can say or do to ease your pain. Just know that we love you. God's peace.

My mother told me this and I have always remembered it as I have gone through life, 'God never gives you more than you can handle'. I know losing Carter is a tremendous loss, and the pain seems unbearable, but God will get you through it. They say to go one day at a time, and that really does help. Also, when I lost my mom in December, and I was feeling numb, I told a woman from my church that I felt numb, and she said "Sure, that is God's way of protecting you". I hope this helps you with your grief of Carter. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss. My son Nickalas who is 11 met Carter at Camp Hiawatha this past month and we wanted you to know he enjoyed his friendship the short time he spent with him. Nickalas told me Carter was really funny and really nice and had fun hanging out with him that week. He also taught my son a funny song. Even though I didn't know Carter I can tell he had a true gift in making friends and an infectious personality from the things my son has shared with me. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

There are no words that can express my heartfelt sympathy and grief over the loss of your beautiful son. You were blessed to have such a wonderful gift for 12 years and God could not have chosen a more wonderful family to love and nurture him.

Please know that your family has been, and will continue to be, in my prayers. Carter is in the arms of his Heavenly Father and you will see him again someday. I know that God will comfort you during this time, because the Bible promises it.

Carter it just breaks my heart to think you have been taken from all of us at such a young age. Every once in awhile your name Carter will be brought up because something comes to mind about pre-school. You were my Granddaughter Lizzi Enrooth's best friend back then. So many good memories of the two of you. God gave all of us a very special gift which was you Carter. Unfortunately you could only be here for a short time. Dear Geyens,
I feel terrible for your loss, and I have no idea what you guys are going through. I will remember Carter for as long as I live. He was one of my best friends. I am sorry that he had to die at 12 years old but I think a person dies when they do what they are meant to do in life and I guess he did that. I will miss him always. Again, I am sorry for your loss. He will always be with you.

Dear Carter's parents: You don't know me but I am a mother that also lost her young son. My son Seth was killed in a car crash 2 1/2 years ago at age 19. No one but a parent would ever be able to comprehend the tremendous loss of a child. There is absolutely nothing worse in the world. It changes your life forever. Not only does the child lose their future, but the parents lose their future as well. My heart goes out to you and Jacob and all of your family and friends that are suffering during this difficult time. May God give you some peace and look over you. It is a very different life, after the death of a child. It is hard to understand why God took our boys, when we needed them here. He must need young, strong, healthy boys. I'll never figure it out. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Things will not be the same. God Bless. From a grieving mother.

August 4, 2010

Although I didn't know Carter or his family, I just want you to know that I will keep you in my prayers. Life is sometimes so cruel, and everyone says someday we'll understand why. I'm looking forward to that day because things like this are too painful to comprehend. Be strong and always keep Carter in your everyday conversations.. This will help you heal...

Karolyn and Family,

I am so deeply sorry for your loss of Carter. I just cry out for your pain, it's just such a tragic accident. I am really glad we got to meet you last night at the park. Carters memorial there is amazing!! Anthony made the big sign and bought balloons, candles, and flowers. I think that helped with his greving. He wanted to come back later last night to see if the candles were still lit. Thats when we met. When we left, Anthony told me it comforted him to see you there and to get a chance to talk to you. Anthony had me bring him by there again today, and we seen more people had come to visit Carter. He said he can see Carter smiling down on the park, loving all of the attention. Find peace knowing that Carter is with his father in heaven and they are with all of you, hugging you up every minute of the day. I pray that you feel those hugs.

Stephen, Karolyn and Jacob, you gave Carter a loving home in which to play, laugh and thrive. His love for his family and life showed in his smile. I loved his voice and his immpeccable phone manners. I remember how, like his mom, he did not like a lot of hugs. But he loved his mom's hugs. Kari, Remember the time that I slept over at your house on 45th? I slept on the couch where you sometimes ended up. I was delighted when Carter came out in the wee hours of the morning and nestled in with me. I thought I had made some breakthrough and would get more affection. Well, when we woke, he opened his eyes. The look of disgust on his face when he realized that I was not his mom was priceless. No breakthroughs, there, I guess. As you adjust to your new reality, remember that you have the love, support and prayers of many. We will revel with you in the joy of Carter's memory until we see him again in heaven.

Steve, Kari and Jacob ~ Words cannot express the sadness we feel with Carter's passing. His spunky smile, tricky ways and empathetic deeds will never be forgotten. We still remember the injured bird that he and the kids cared for in our back yard, and the girls vs. guys contest while camping - who could find the biggest "stick." I think the girls won! Carter brought out smiles and laughs from many! After your visit two weekends ago, we were just saying what great boys you have and we are so thankful that our children love spending time with them. Jacob and Carter, you will always be role models for our kids, and maybe even more importantly, for everyone you have met. Carter William, you little stinker, we will miss you dearly. Lots of love from the Cadenhead Family - Charles, Tara, Ella, Will and Evan
