I didn't know Jake well, but he was a student director for state arts-in when I was in it for 2 years. I remember him being very encouraging and consistently positive. He was always joking around and had a great smile. I also remember the celebration service during prep week when he helped lead the service. You could really he loved God and he lived life to the fullest.

I did not know Jake personally, but it was not possible to be in the Minnesota 4-H program at the same time without knowing who he was. Jake had a phenomenal presence on stage and off, and there is no way I will ever forget his smile. My thoughts and prayers are with all those who were close to him, and I grieve for those of us left behind because such a shining person was taken to God's side much too son.

We were neighbors of Jake and his family for many years in Browns Creek...we were devasted to hear of his sudden departure. We have so many wonderful memories of Jake, including one recent visit to our home during Halloween..his beautiful smile and good nature was the same as when he was a young boy...

I didn't know Jake but I knew some of the kids he taught and led for the 4H choral/drama group that recently debuted at the Washington County Fair. They were all devasted by the loss of Jake and held it together on Friday as they dedicated the shows to him to "pay it forward" as Jake taught them. He will be very much missed.

To Jake's family; We met Jake at family gatherings with Mary and Jim, and Otto and LaVonne. We only met Jake a few times but it felt like we knew him for forever. Jake and my son, Emilio, got to be buddies as little kids. I remember many sleepovers and days when they crashed around the woods exploring or crawled around on the floor playing with Brio trains and Matchbox cars. When they got tired they ate hot dogs and watched Thomas the Tank Engine videos, giggling and teasing each other.
They played soccer together through high school. When I think of Jake, I think of his 1000-watt smile, his goofy sense of humor, his great kindness and his zest for life.
I'm so sad that he is gone, and my heart aches for the whole Benesh family. I feel privileged that we were lucky enough to have him be a part of our lives. We will never forget Jake.

Benesh Family,
Our son was at 4H camp about five years ago and had Jake (Taco) for a counselor. He enjoyed his enthusiasm for 4H and his humor. He was an inspiration for many young 4H'ers. May God comfort you knowing that Jake is in the arms of his Savior and that he was a faithful servant to so many in his 22 years. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I knew Jake through Anoka County 4-H, first when Kayla Schiltgen was directing the winter camp and he came to help teach how to swing dance, and then again when he was the assistant directer for summer camp. He had a great sense of humor and was a lot of fun to work with. We'll miss him a lot.

This is my daughter's first time in 4-H and the Arts-in Program. She met Jake for the first time at encampment in July, and what an honor that turned out to be. Hearing what wonderful things everyone has to say about Jake saddens me that he won't be here to have such an amazing, positive influence on her life as he has had on so many others. Sounds like he was an amazing young man and had much left to contribute to our children and everyone he met. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Jake was always a great boy with Troop 169 B. S. A.. He always eagerly went along with the plan of the day. He always had a smile and never, ever complained about anything, and never gave anyone a bad time. I always thought he would be a success in life. I haven't seen him since he was about 15. Please know the Azzone family grieves for your loss.

Jake has a special place in our hearts. Our son, Joe, met Jake at the State Arts In program and then had the privilege of being his roommate for 2 1/2 years in college. And then at graduation we were able to take a picture of Joe and Jake together. This is a treasure to keep. Our prayers are with you all.

Jake and I met one night at a rehearsal for a fundraiser for the theater dept., he was just the kind of person that you met and wanted to be friends with. Jake and I had quite a few chances to hang out and the experiences were always memorable because he knew how to make a person laugh. He will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

I still think of Jake as a little kid. One day, Justin came home and announced that he would like a little brother ... just like Jake. I'm sure that feeling eventually passed :-), but Jake was always very special to both of us.

Jake was a good friend of mine. I met him at the beginning of our senior year of college. He was one of the best people I have ever met. I am so sorry for his family. You are in my thoughts and my prayers and I know that Jake is one of my guardian angels. He was on Earth and now he is in heaven. Thank you for being my friend Jake, you always knew how to put a smile on my face. There is a large spot kept for you in my heart.

I really miss you, Jake. Your smile and constant energy were contagious. It was SO much fun to play music with you - especially on the float this year at Lumberjack Days. You were a pillar of faith. The kids loved you, the adults loved you, we all loved you. There is comfort in knowing that you are with Jesus. See you again, my friend!

My prayers are with you. I loved Jake's smile. What a wonderful child you raised. Whenever we ran into each other I'd get a quick update of his life. I loved how he loved life. I recall one night (5th grade) he planned to sleep over than at 11:30pm he and Alex came into my room. He asked if I could bring him home because he wasn't used to going to sleep so early. So I got up and drove him home. What fun he was in soccer. He was a great young man. My heart aches for you.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the Benesh family. I still see him as the little boy the first time he spent the night at our house for an overnight. He had a hard time going to sleep while Matt slept, so I stayed up with him. The next morning we celebrated with pancakes and he was so happy. Many more overnights followed.
