Joan CAPISTRANT Obituary

Age 77 Of West St. Paul Passed away peacefully on December 20, 2012 surrounded by her loving family, which included her 7 children and their spouses, 2 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Capistrant; parents, Walter and Marie Webb; and brother, Pat Webb. Survived by her loving children, daughter, Ann (Jeff) Pogatchnik, sons, Mark, Pat, Dan (Vivi), Rick (Cheri), Rob (Lori), Andy (Heather); 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her brother, John (Sylvia) Webb. Joan, daughter of Walter and Marie Webb, grew up in St. Paul with her twin brother John and her younger brother Pat. During her late 20s, Joan met Clyde Capistrant when mutual friends set them up together. They had their first date on St. Patrick's Day and were married 7 months later. Joan and Clyde celebrated their deep love for each other during their ceremony at Nativity Church and during their beautiful wedding reception in St. Paul on Summit Avenue in 1961. Joan and Clyde had a large family of 7 children; Ann, Mark, Pat, Dan, Rick, Rob and Andy. Both Joan and Clyde were deeply committed to their children and nothing meant more to them than spending time with their family and extended family. For many summers Joan and Clyde gathered the children for trips to her brother John's cabin in Wisconsin. Even after Clyde's death in 1979 from complications of esophageal cancer, Joan remained devoted to raising her children in her loving and caring home. After her children were all grown and living in their own homes, she often held "Sunday Dinners" inviting anyone in the family over for a home cooked meal. After her retirement and even during her stay at Inver Glen Joan enjoyed getting together with her family. It was visits by her family and the small trips out to lunch or dinner that brought her happiness and joy. In addition to her children and their spouses, Joan will be greatly missed by her grandchildren (Nicole, Joel, Matt, Caitlyn, Chris, Carli, Ryan, Joey and Tommy), by her great-grandchildren (Jacob, Brynn, Norah, Wyatt, Ben, and Olivia), by her twin brother, John Webb (Sylvia) and many other family members and friends. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Thursday at the CHURCH OF ST. JOSEPH, 1154 Seminole Ave., West St. Paul. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation at Willwerscheid Natural Burial & Cremation, 235 W Wentworth Ave., West St. Paul, 4-8 PM Wednesday and at church 1 hour prior to Mass. The Capistrant family thanks the staff at Inver Glen Senior Living for their tender loving care and devotion to Joan, especially during her last days there.
