It is hard to find words for someone who impacts your life as greatly as Mrs. Wacker has. As a teacher myself, I try each day to cultivate the kind of classroom that she did. She is one of my greatest heroes and role models.
Every day my 7th and 8th grade science class sat in awe of this woman who was so incredibly cool, down to earth, holy, fascinating, adventurous, intelligent, funny, virtuous, courageous, prayerful, joyful, strong, and wise. She had so many things she loved, and she shared them with us with such honesty and dignity.
Most of all, she loved the Lord, her family & friends, and the joy of living life to the full. This grew deep within her students a sense of the great goodness of life and of the God who created it. I cannot thank Him enough for the privilege of being one of her students. My siblings and I have always talked about her as being one of the most wonderful and influential teachers we will ever have. It is because she stood not only for herself but for the great love Christ has for all of us.
Thank you Mrs. Wacker. Thank you for being who you are, and for teaching so many kids to have the courage to be who we are & to follow the Lord's plan for our lives. Thank you for teaching us that we are made by a loving God for a great purpose, and that this world is a beautiful world to be explored, reverenced, and enjoyed. You are the best. We love you and we will meet you in the Eucharist. -Margaret Adams, Nativity Class of 1991

I was a student of Mrs. Wacker at Nativity. She was an amazing teacher. She pushed her students to do their best both in and out of the classroom. Her science lessons - dissecting worms and frogs and looking at microorganisms under the microscope will always be positive memories for me.
Please accept my most heartfelt sympathies for your loss.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Wackers family. I had her as a teacher for science and homeroom at nativity. She has left an everlasting impression on me. She was proud of her faith and was not afraid to share it with her students. She left a great love of science with us. I credit her for many memories and for molding me into the person i am today. Thank you for the great memories and the wonderful gift of teaching that you shared and blessed me with the privilage of experiencing

Caroline & Family: Praised be Jesus Christ for the amazing life of your mother, a most gifted and giving human being. These brief testimonials given by her former students are but a smattering of the immense gratitude that literally thousands of students have for this great person in their lives. Our children who had her for Science classes at Nativity of Mary each carry a deep gratitude for what she taught and modeled for them about life. I love the story of her chasing the student down the hall and yelling, "You can't get away from me, I'm a bear hunter!" This world won't be the same without Audrey in it, but the heavenly kingdom will be enriched, that's for sure, by her glowing presence, her contagious smile. God love you all, and know that you are and will remain in our prayers. Ed, Sue, Sister Catherine Marie OCD, Fr James, Margaret, Mary, Joseph & Michael

I never had Mr. Wacker for a teacher but my four sons did. One of them told me yesterday that one of his best memories of her was that she truly tried to be the best teacher she could be. This is the best testimonial I can think of for a "teacher".

When I look back and think of the most influential people in my life, Mrs. Wacker is the first person that comes to my mind. Like many others,I was privileged to have Mrs. Wacker as a teacher at Nativity of Mary. In an era where girls sports were just beginning and there were few role models for girls in the area of science, Mrs. Wacker was an incredible influence. She taught me that I could be challenged and succeed, she taught me the importance of role models in kids lives, and she taught me that teachers really did care about their students!!
I thank God for her influence during my formative years and I send my prayers and condolences to all of you in her family.
Peace to you,

I taught school with Audrey at Nativity. I was sort of in awe of her, but we soon became friends. She was a wonderful Science teacher. My sons loved her and she kept in touch with our family long after they graduated from 8th grade. She was such an inspiration as to what teaching is all about...Diana Varecka

Mrs Wacker was an outstanding witness as a teacher and Catholic. Our children learned a lot about the Catholic faith from her. She was very helpful to them and to our family. Thank you Mrs. Wacker for all you did!

My condolences to the family of Audrey Wacker. She was my science teacher during junior high. She was tough, yes, but also one of the best teachers I ever had. I've often wondered if she knew how great of a teacher she was. I am so grateful to have known her. I hope someday my children will have a science teacher who is just as inspiring as she was.

Mrs. Wacker was an absolute Gem. I am sure my life is richer for her influence upon it. I certainly credit her with innate drive to maintain my "reading level" (Nativity-ites will get it..). Rest in Peace.

I too would like to send my condolences to the Wacker family and beyond.
Audrey was my 7th and 8th grade teacher at Nativity in 1981-82 and 1982-83. She was without a doubt one of the most influential teachers I have had throughout my life. She was smart, witty, and had a natural gift of being able to captivate the attention of her students. She was filled with wonderful stories of her travels and adventures, and her passion for all things “science” was nothing less than contagious. She was able to challenge her students in ways that didn't feel challenging. More than most people I know, Mrs. Wacker has had a long lasting impact and influence on so very many people. The memories of the time I spent with her have stayed with me for more than thirty years, and will linger for a long time to come. Her legacy lives on in so many of us.
Whether we knew it then or not, having spent time with Mrs. Wacker was truly a gift.
While I am saddened to hear of her passing, I take comfort in the knowledge that she is returned to the loving care of our Heavenly Father.

I have fond memories of Mrs. Wacker as my science teacher at Nativity...one of my favorite was that she was chasing a troublesome student down the hall and she said "you can't get away from me I am a bear hunter!" I would stay in from recess and help her, she was so appreciative. I am sorry for your loss, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy to the Wacker family. She was a great teacher at Nativity. I had her for 8th grade science and remember all the unique specimens she had in the downstairs science room. She was tough, but she was an excellent teacher.
