Mary & family - I was saddened to hear that Ancil had passed so soon after seeing him on Sunday at the ice cream social. As always, he was sharp and full of questions (and answers) right up to the end. We'll miss seeing him and pray for him and you. Grace to you and Peace.

Rest in peace, dear Ancil. You were always so kind to me when we would discuss music, assuming that I had even a small fraction of your broad and deep knowledge. I will miss you terribly at.the Chesterton Society meetings, and the meetings after the meetings. My prayers are with you and Mary and your children. Pray for us!

Mary, Paul, John and Andrew: I am deeply saddended to hear of Ancil's passing. Only a few months ago he and I had lunch and I learned of his added health challenges. Our conversation reminded me of the enlightended and dedicated man I first met 35 years ago in Oklahoma. In mid-life he still wanted the challenge of returing to law practice. While he was very successful in his part of the equation, as often is the case the Life did not allow him the chance to excel as he should have given his great mind and legal talents. In spite of the challenges he faced both professionally and personally he showed incredible dignity and grace and never failed to see the real meaning of life and the value of his faith and family. The World has lost a kind and gentle soul that truly was a life force for those of us who knew him. Perhaps now he is in a better position to watch over you and guide us all in understanding this Great Mystery called "Life."

Mary and boys...Blessings to you...He fought the good fight, ran the race...He showed up for all the justice and peace events, challenged and questioned. You rode with us to the West side for a talk about ecumenism...he understood and accepted/challenged. What a man. His struggles are over. Maybe he'll share some of the answers. The world's a better place because of Ancil. Love and best wishes, Tom and JoAnn Mason

I'll never forget the two summers I spent recently with Ancil reading the Aeneid, and speaking of all sorts of things pertaining to faith and culture. What a wonderful mentor--he will be sorely missed.
