Don was a great guy. He told us lots of his stories. Took care of him and Dottie at Ecumen. Many thanks for sharing him with us. Roxanne

To the Riley family:
The entire Sweeney clan sends its prayers and condolences. Dot and Don were good friends of our parents and I thoroughly enjoyed his columns, especially the ones on the Fighting Saints. His talents and energy will be missed.

To the Riley family: Am deeply sorry to learn of Don's passing. Enjoyed his work tremendously, as well as the few times I was in his presence. Don and Dottie were good friends of my parents. My father George occasionally guested on Don's WLOL Radio show. One story: I was in the studio when Don had a sometimes emotional panel discussion on Little League baseball, which he disliked. My father was a panelist, along with former Gopher Bob Johnson and the late Hank Streich (all were active in Little League). Hank made a point that irked Don, who stood up from his swivel chair, leaned across the table and shouted something back at Hank. As Don quickly sat down, his momentum carried the chair backwards, causing a loud crashing sound as both Don and the chair hit the floor! Knowing that listeners couldn't see what happened, my father said, "Hank, if I've told you once, I've told you a hundred times--you should never hit Riley!" Great memories. Don was never dull. He was the best friend St. Paul sports ever had. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Dear Shannon, Sheila and families,
We have lost a truly great man. What a beautiful tribute you've written to a life well lived. I LOVED listening to your dad tell stories at my parent's parties. (My favorite was when he left your mom at the gas station in Wisconsin!)
Please know that you are in my prayers.
Love,
Bridget (Ivory) Corbett
