Lisa A. Staple
Rome
Lisa A. Staple, 49, of Rome, passed away on March 18, 2012, as a result of an accident in Oswego County. She was the daughter of Marshall and Marie Sanders Updyke. She received her education in Rome and continued her studies, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Cayuga College. Lisa enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises. She was always ready to take a trip and see new things. Lisa was employed at Rome Memorial Hospital and at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica. She took great joy in being a volunteer with the American Heart Association, teaching health education at Rome Memorial Hospital and staying healthy through physical fitness exercise. Lisa is survived by a daughter, Jenna Jameson and Chris Lambe, of Utica; son, John Jameson, of Tucson, AZ; step-son, Andrew and Sara Staple and their son, Maxwell, of Buffalo; brother, David and Melody Updyke, of Margaretville; and sister, Christina (St. Thomas) and Richard Illingworth, of Camden. Also surviving are five nieces and nephews, Pat and Traci St. Thomas, Tony St. Thomas, Nicole and William Kantor, Afton Updyke and Jacinta Updyke, along with six great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 7 PM at the Strong and Burns Funeral Home,401 N. George St., Rome. Friends may call from 4-7 PM,prior to the service. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Lisa's memory to the Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation, 1617 N. James St., Suite 950, Rome, NY 13440.
