Marian R. Williams, 92, of the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville and formerly of Bridgewater passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Harding Nursing Home, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born on March 19, 1920, in New Hartford, a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Eccles) Roberts. She was a graduate of Chadwicks High School, Class of 1938. On June 8, 1940 she was united in marriage to William J. (Bill) Williams a blessed union of almost 50 years. Mr. Williams died on April 12, 1990.
She, along with her husband, once lived in Sauquoit, then Utica, before settling in Bridgewater in 1943, where she began to raise her family and work on their family farm. She opened her own business in Bridgewater known as Marians Snack Bar, a diner that was well known and frequented by many of the locals. At one time they also owned and operated Brookside Mobile Manor and the Williams Trailer Park.
She was a member of the Bridgewater Congregational Church; she was a 50 year member of the Wimac Rebekah Lodge in Unadilla Forks, the Bridgewater Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the Bridgewater Women's Art Club.
Marian was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family especially her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, needlework and swimming.
She is survived by her children, Doris Pavlot, and her husband, Lee, of Waterville, Janis Williams, of Snellville, GA; a daughter-in-law, Linda Williams, of Bridgewater. She also leaves her grandchildren, Rick Williams, of Norwich, Michelle Davis and her husband, Derek of Carthage, NY, Ken Williams and his wife, Carolyn, of Frankfort, and Michael Pavlot and his wife, Suzanne, of LaFargeville, NY; her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Justin and Hallie Davis, Jenna, Ryan and Tyler Pavlot and Walker Williams. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Williams, her siblings, Jane Wilmot, Margaret Ward, Jack Roberts, Joseph Roberts and Rose Baylis.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the entire staff of the Harding Nursing Home for the wonderful care that Marian received.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 365 West Main St., in West Winfield, with Pastor Doug Satterlee of the Bridgewater Congregational Church officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
